Pardon Me | Best 60ish Seconds
This week Charlie delivers the "Best 60ish Seconds" of your week from New York City, in conjunction with this year's Pennsylvania Society weekend. He begins by addressing President Biden's pardoning of his son, Hunter, "which shouldn't come as a great surprise," says Charlie. He explains what makes the pardon so concerning and predicts more pardons to come. Next, Charlie reflects on Richard "Dick" V. Allen, President Ronald Reagan’s first national security adviser, who passed away last month. "He was so incredibly kind to me personally," says Charlie. "He was an amazing man." Charlie references Allen's contributions to the "incredibly well-written" book Rawhide Down, which details the events surrounding the attempted assassination of President Reagan on March 30, 1981. Charlie also looks back on the career of legendary St. Johns University basketball coach Lou Carnesecca. He was a "gentlemen's gentlemen," describes Charlie, "may his memory last a long, long time." Lastly, Charlie notes an interesting fact about the tenure of those in Congress today, "We used to have these 'old bulls'...we now have a Congress that's very young."
